Advanced vehicle and fuel technology
We actively support initiatives to reduce consumer emissions from the use of our products in the transportation sector. These include research efforts with external partners to address the fuel and vehicle as a single system to improve efficiency.
We are working with partners to develop advanced biofuels from photosynthetic algae that are compatible with today's gasoline and diesel fuels.
Our Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy is a synthetic motor oil that is expected to improve fuel economy by up to two percent* compared to those grades most commonly used.
Bumpers, fuel tanks and other car parts made from advanced ExxonMobil plastics help reduce vehicle weight by about 10 percent, which can improve fuel efficiency by more than five percent.
*Actual savings are dependent upon vehicle/engine type, outside temperature, driving conditions, and current engine oil viscosity.
We are working with partners to develop an on-vehicle hydrogen production system that converts conventional hydrocarbon fuels into hydrogen to power a fuel cell contained within the vehicle.
